BANGUI (LNC) — ENERCA, the national power company awakes from its lethargy with its promotion campaign called “WA TI DADA” (electricity for house)
Level of sanctions and prices currently being in use in Bangui :
– Fine of 50,000 CFA F, to be paid by tricksters who cheat hijacking electric cables for their own profit.
– Power shut down, must pay a fine of 5,000 CFA F to get it back; 40,000 CFA F for Companies
– Price for one ampere, 25,000 CFA F
However, somewhere, the national power company is mocking the world.
Not satisfied with deceiving consumers in Bangui with its repetitive power cuts – called by euphemism “load shedding”, and even less able to duly supply electricity to the cities in province, this for decades; it sets up its new service of pre-paid bills. But, more importantly, contrary to its sayings of last year, its prices have edged up.
Yet, existing technical structures remain obsolete. Utility poles in the capital are outdated and without protection.
