BANGUI (LNC) — Students at Bangui University are still upset about their bad situation, till erecting barriers on the Martyrs Avenue.
Exactly a year ago to the day, they already demonstrated for the return of their suspended studies, and the frequent teachers’ strikes, rarely paid on time since 2013.
For the past two days, they argue for the two same things already claimed a few weeks ago: the publishing of the additive list of scholarship holders, and payment of students’ scholarship arrears of years 2014 & 2015, quite two full years.
Authorities had promised to resolve these issues, but nothing has been done minuscularly ever since.
Norbert Pounaba, the new ruler of the National Association of the Centrafrican Students (ANECA) said:
“We are asking as quickly as possible, the publishing of the additive list of scholarship holder, and as well payment of the arrears for academic years 2014 and 2015. We had claimed 2900 grant holders, but when the official list was released, only 2200 grant holders were shown. Thus there are still at least 700 missing students.”
New negotiations with the authorities were initiated this day, on condition that the students suspend their strike.
