BANGUI (LNC) — The election period in Bangui is particularly tense, not to say violent.
Feelings ran extremely high as many ballots were contested and the Constitutional Council has not yet submitted its opinion.
On yesterday in the early evening, around 20:00 a.m. (local time), two gunmen on a motorbike came close to Ms. Marie-Madeleine N’Kouet Hoornaert‘s home, the president of the National Authority of Elections (acronymous A.N.E in French), flinging two grenades into it.
Happily, they exploded close to the front wall but claiming no casualties.
Other threats occurred in this same evening, like an armed attack against the police station of the 2nd District of Bangui.
Right now, Gendarmerie and peacekeepers from (UN) MINUSCA are unable to identify the attackers.
