BANGUI (LNC) — On this Friday (November 13), in Bangui, interim President of CAR granted audience to a delegation of the International Contact Group on Central African Republic (GIC-RCA) or G8-CAR, consisted of delegates from United States, France, UN, EU, ECCAS (CEEAC), AU and the World Bank, through Congolese mediation.
The delegation was headed by Congolese Gen. Jean-Marie Mokoko, as Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission and Head of the AU Mission in Central Africa (MISAC).
ELECTIONS AND SECURITY
On the agenda of the discussions, a general overview of the security situation in CAR, the progress made in preparation of the elections, and the end of the political transition.
Recalling that in September, the GIC-RCA had engaged to secure the electoral process in CAR.
Gen.Mokoko emphasizes importance of peace, tolerance & reconciliation before, during and after elections.
“Return to violence in lead-up to elections in the Central African Republic is totally unacceptable, knowing that, over 98% of eligible Central Africans have chosen peace/reconciliation & democracy, by registering to vote,” he said.
However, at least, the G8-CAR reiterates support of International Community to assist CAR Transition Authorities in organizing elections in Dec 2015 & Jan 2016.
