One week ago, about twenty of 31 Cameroonian troops within MINUSCA left Bozoum to be redeployed as additional Force in city of PAOUA, at present, considered as a high risk area, so much that ‘down’ of it, there are numerous disturbances, with armed gangs roaming in the zone.
This kind of movements of peacekeepers is not surprising, but usual, that adjust to changing circumstances. Past May in Bozoum, the same thing happened.
This malicious rumour of departure of MINUSCA, saying they will not be replaced was being spread in Bozoum; mostly taken up by several media, without no credible source; a least ended to displease the communication centre of MINUSCA in Bangui:
“We heard that on the radio, we read on some websites that the Cameroonian contingent left definitively the city of Bozoum, because of its disarmament by an Anti-Balaka group, shortly before. Again that, NGOs were going to leave, due to this.
All of this is obviously completely untrue.
Troops move depending of service needs, that’s all. All of these people spreading lies have to stop causing unnecessary apprehension among the population, with no recut pseudo-information. MINUSCA does not move from Bozoum, nor is tolerant with armed groups in the city.“
