BANGUI (LNC) – Subject of the Disarmament, Demobilisation, Reinsertion, and Reintegration (DDRR) process has been recently in the heart of a nationwide consultation initiated by the local radio station “Radio Ndeke Luka”. Summary.
If the DDRR process wanted by the CAR new Head of State Faustin Touadera seems to have reached a deadlock. To the contrary, the one set up by the United Nations personnel (MINUSCA), appears to have met with some success. However, all of these processes do not fit the taste of all in CAR, particularly from forgotten victims of the massacres committed by rebels, Seleka and Anti-Balaka, during more than three bloody years.
REWARD FOR IMPUNITY
Just to summarize things up, for the vast majority of listeners expressing their views on the radio station: “the DDR process is not a priority for the moment. People are still suffering in the “Ledger” camp (nickname of the camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) located at M’poko Airport in Bangui, to tease the luxury hotel ‘Ledger’ which is not far from the camp). The government is doing nothing to help them, They live under the most abhorrent conditions. Without even inciting a reaction from the political authorities. the concern of authorities, is to grant money to criminals, those who pitched the country into a deep crisis.”
“Anger of the victims is huge. They are forgotten, no attempt is being made to help them solve their problems”.
“In this country, you come and kill people, and next, you are appointed Minister to come over here to showcase your teeth and laugh at people at the wheel of pickup 4×4″
“What the hell is this DDR? Weapons are taken from hands of criminals, and they receive funds for that. That’s all.”
“Innocent civilians murdered, their homes have been torn down and burned, and after all those things, they grant impunity to those assassins? This is unacceptable.”
“The Follow-up Committee of the Forum of Bangui has no means. But there, rebels are feed with money, nothing more. They killed a lot of people, and they even will not go to jail. But at the very first opportunity, they will begin to kill again.”
“In what normal country rebels are free to establish their own military staff offices in front of eyes of everyone?”
In fact, If the focus is on this called DDR process, but becoming splitting for the victims of abominations committed by rebel bands, causing the displacement of up to a million people; those displaced persons, till now, are not a the concerns of the new authorities of CAR. If President Touadera spent lot of time travelling abroad, he just headed recently, to pay visit to the camp Mpoko of refugees.
