BRUSSELS – EU foreign ministers approved a new military training mission for the Central African Republic on 19 April to strengthen the country’s defence.
Dubbed EUTM RCA, the mission will last two years and be based in Bangui. It builds on the EU’s military advisory mission (EUMAM RCA), which wound down on 15 March. It will provide education and training to the country’s military and strategic advice to CAR’s defence ministry and general staff.
After achieving full operational capability, EUTM RCA will operate for 12 months and will receive funding of EUR7.9 million for its preparatory phase and first year of operations.
