REINFORCEMENT OF MUTUAL TIES
Faustin Archange Touadéra, who won the CAR presidential run off on 14 February, is actually travelling the continent, with stress to Central African sub-region, in a tour that led him to Equatorial Guinea, Chad and the DRC.
The Angolan head of State José Eduardo dos Santos did not missed to extend him his congratulation. Saying: “The victory translates, unequivocally, the trust the people place on the President-elect to carry out the consolidation of peace, stability and democracy in that country.” also saying “the desire to strengthen the friendship and cooperation ties between Angola and CAR.”
Dos Santos held a private meeting with Faustin Archange Touadéra. But nothing has filtered through the discussions between them.
Together with Bornito de Sousa, the new head of the Central African Republic went to the town of Kilamba – located in the municipality of Belas in the south of Luanda – which was the very first city built in Luanda since the independence of Angola in 1975. There, he visited a local police station and marched the streets.
Next, the Centrafrican President held a press conference during which he further expressed appreciation to President Dos Santos, for his strengthened assistance to the Transitional Government in Bangui.
“The support of President Dos Santos led the CAR to the elections of February 14 […] I want to thank his Excellency Jose Eduardo dos Santos for his strengthened assistance to the Transitional Government of CAR, a very important support which allowed the CAR to stabilize and to restore a security a bit; important role in the elections process.
We do know that Angola has companies filled with many skills, with great experience, that can help CAR to energize its economy [..] We know also that Angola has been in crisis for a long time, but since 2002, under the guidance and leadership of José Eduardo dos Santos, it took the way of progress. we came then to learn”.
Adding that with President Dos Santos, he had raised diverse things which could be fundamental for the bilateral cooperation.
Faustin Archange Touadéra and his delegation left Luanda on Friday afternoon.
