A man was killed on past Saturday by the Ugandan rebels of Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Facts happened in the village called Ngagan located on the axis Nganda, one of the municipalities of the sub-prefecture of Bakouma situated to 70 km of Bangassou.
Attackers abducted 17 persons. 12 of them were next released, according to a local source. Barns of the farmers were systematically plundered and their money was stolen.
This attack perpetrated in village Ngagan came 4 days after a one in village Mabo situated at 45 km of Bangassou on the road of Gambo. 21 people had been kidnapped. Local source confirmed to RNL that about ten hostages were released.
Faced with this wave of phenomena, and in spite of the announcement by Minusca of the implementation of a coordination of international forces, No military action against LRA has been seen on the area.Inhabitants of peripheral villages close to city of Bangassou and those of the sub-prefecture of Bakouma are going through difficult times.
FPRC stated having arrested a major LRA officer
Meanwhile, the Popular Front for the Renaissance of the Centrafric ( FPRC) – One of the branches of Seleka coalition – announced having arrested last Saturday, one of the major heads of this Ugandan rebellion. This LRA’s man who would be named Sam, was captured in the village Mbangana situated to 175 km of Sam-Ouandjia in the northeast.
According to Col. Mahamat Dea from the FPRC, they handed “Sam” over to U.S. forces operating out of eastern CAR. « we cuffed him, and brought him to the US ».
Col. Dea hopes that Minusca and the CAR authorities will do their best to reassure the people of this region. “We call upon United Nations to throw their support behind us for securing the population. Most part of villages are currently empty. »
