Centrafrique: City of Batangafo calls for the withdrawal of UN forces (Minusca)

BATANGAFO (LNC) — City’s residents, the day before yesterday, had shown that it is fed up with the endlessnesses violences, and wanted to meet the local and prefectural authorities for complaints.

MINUSCA  BLACKLISTED

At the meeting, the population accused the MINUSCA forces based in the city for among other things, “Failure to assist persons in danger”.
This week in fact, more than 700 shelters were burned, several people have died, burned alive, as trapped in the  internally displaced persons camp,in full view of the Forces of Minusca” The vice-Prefect  of Batangafo Ngozila Deo-Bafounga said.
The public are fed up with this, and are being held hostage in the fighting between militias Seleka and Anti-Balaka.
” A lot of dead people around, a lot of destruction”, a woman said.

“In that meeting, inhabitants demonstrated their dissatisfaction with Minusca for failure to assist persons in danger. [..] Militias Seleka and Anti Balaka are also pointed out for violent unrest. Just yesterday, Seleka’s gunmen killed two people for nothing.” Ngozila Deo-Bafounga added.

In addition of the call for the withdrawal of Minusca, inhabitants of Batangafo required also the relocation of the former Seleka fighters’ camp, still based locally.
